Code Of Practice
I am passionate about encouraging a more environmentally friendly and sustainable way of living. I aim to promote respect of the natural environment through education and engagement with the local area. All activities aim to have minimal impact.
I believe that people engage more of their senses and intelligences through physically experiencing learning situations and therefore the learning has more impact and longevity.
I consider safety to be of the upmost importance and therefore take every possible measure to ensure that groups are in safe hands at all times.
I uphold all current UK laws relating to health and safety, staff vetting, wildlife and countryside matters and ensure that I operate a programme of best practice in areas not yet law.
I am trained in leading groups of children in the outdoor environment and hold an Enhanced Criminal Record Bureau (CRB) check. I hold First Aid qualifications in Outdoor Paediatric, Rescue Emergency Care and 4 day ‘1st Aid at Work’ which are renewed every 3 years.
I work with openness and integrity to develop and maintain long term sustainable relationships with clients. I will work with you to create a programme that meets your needs. I support individuals to choose the level of participation that is right for them at the time. Evaluation of events and activities is taken seriously and I will actively seek to improve on all aspects of my practice.
I believe in opportunities for all and will not discriminate against anyone. I will not tolerate foul or abusive language or statements of a racist or defamatory nature.
I will present myself in smart dress suitable for the environment and conduct myself in a professional manner at all times.
I aim to uphold the highest standards possible as demanded by the regulating bodies: Institute of Outdoor Learning and The Learning Outside the Classroom Council.
